Pretty As A Picture and Giveaway

Banner Haus News and Musings

Don't fergit I'm giving away a bottle of culinary Rose Water or Orange Flower Water -- just put the word WATER somewheres in yer comment iff'n you want to enter/re-enter. Thank'ee donkey frens, open to all near and far.

As if to remind us of Earth Day, nature put on a terrible lightning storm last night -- and of course, I was out in it, getting prescriptions filled for my son who was in a lot of pain from an ear infection. There was a tornado watch and that is unusual fer this area. I have seen many storms and some tornados, but this was the first time I saw lightning traveling up into the sky, and the very sobering and miraculous sight of lightning BALLS.

But at the drugstore, waiting fer the medicine, I couldn't help myself, and tore my eyes away from the storm and straightened the card aisle. Lordy, they were a mess! Who is their merchandiser? Tsk tsk!

Free Scrapbooking and Blog Images

This is a very interesting piece of German scrap I found. I was first going to clean it up and put it on the Fer Sale page, but thought that it really should be free to all to ensure its survival. It's that unusual.

The second image can be clicked and will greatly enlarge, good for digital scrapbooking and such. The first image is sized more for a sidebar (especially if running 2 columns).

Hi Holly, I really love a thunder and liightening storm. When I live din the hills the sight was spectacular specially the valley below. Its just breath taking. Hope your boy is feeling better. Ear aches are terrible.

Sheeba is enjoying the pup chow. I mixed 2 strips with her regular food and she chomped it down in no time.

She feels like Queen Cleopatra eating imported American food.

Great balls of fire as it were.

I love a good thunder boomer...I am not fond of the lightning, specially the cracklin kind, where you see the and feel the crackle and then...oh my.. But a good thunderstorm...love it when it gets all dark and funky. God has a way of making the lightning, yes even that useful for benefit, specially in the garden..puts nitrogen into the soil. How bout that? Lovely graphics as usual. Say...back about the marshmallow creame popcorn...what brand? I couldn't find any up my way....

  • Debra

Glad you made it through the storm safely! I can just see you straightening up the cards in the drug store!!
    Very pretty graphics!!

I hope the ear infection clears up soon, those are miserable to have! Had I known you were out in a bad storm, I could have *worried* about ya, I'm afraid of storms! We lived in a mobile home for 10 years when my son was little and when we got bad storms, I would take him and myself into my closet and play "pirate ship on the stormy seas", LOL!!!He enjoyed it, and I felt a little safer there, don't know why, if a trailer is gonna blow away chances are the closet is going too! Maybe I should have doused myself with rose WATER and just went out to play in it???

  • Dawn

We love to watch the storms from our sunroom. It juts off the house so there are windows on three sides. Sounds like you had a doozy there though. Fireballs, yikes!

This easle with roses is fabulous! I'll come back for it later. Time to get the kids up. (my daughter's ear infections have stopped since her nasal surgery! Hope your son feel better soon!)
    Hugs,
    Dawn

I love electrical storms, but have never seen a lightning ball - also tornados scare me and when the sirens in town sound to indicate a tornado watch, I freeze and pray because there's nothing else I can do - we have no tornado shelters. I would grab my dog and cat (providing I could catch the cat) and crawl in the bathtub with them and hide.

  • sjhackney

Gad, I hate earaches. I hope your son is doing better. We will have the storm you had today. Tis the season for storms and tornados. Thanks for the scrap pictures. They're so pretty. Sally

we don't get many thunder and lightening storms here..or tornados.."just" earthquakes but I have seen them when we've traveled back to Iowa..magnificent!

really like the German rose graphic, so pretty!

  • A Joyful Chaos

I never saw lightning with balls of fire. I'm sure that would be quite a sight!

We had rain this morning so there is a lot of "water" in the puddles in our driveway for the children to splash in.

    Beautiful graphics!

  • xashee's corner

i sure hope the meds work and get rid of his ear pains!
i am not a big fan of the storms but lightning BALLS? Cool!! never seen them! :)

  • ^..^Corgidogmama

    Love those be-rosed easeled frames.
    Very pretty!
Love storms, and hearing rain, but hate tornadoes and warnings for such. We get many here in Indiana. Thought about y'all when the news was telling of TX weather.
Will ask Jim about San Angelo when he gets home, whenever that is.
Hope son gets to feeling better. Sore ears make for grumpy bears.

  • Nydia

Oh, Holy, what a fright to be ut there in the middle of such a huge storm! I love them, but only when I'm safe at home! And I've never seen these lightning balls you mention, they must be awesome!

LOL You had to look at the aisles...

Kisses and much love from us. Love ya!

  • Nydia

OOps: Hope your son's feeling better, hate ear aches, poor guy!

  • Julia

Like a bunch of the other "commentators," I love a good storm. Nothing better to get me all amped than the natural energy produced by good ole mother nature. And LIGHTENING is always an added bonus.

Hope yer son's ears clear up fast. Nothing is worse than an ear infection. Really!

  • Sandi@ Rose Chintz Cottage

    My dear Holly,
I had to laugh when you mentioned straightening the cards! That is something I would have done at one time! Your rose easels are lovely! Hope your son's ear is cleared up soon; very painful!
We haven't had an electrical storm this year so far, which is good! We've had plenty of rain or water this past week however. Everything is turning lush and green and the water out at the shore is looking bluer every day. Can't wait to stick my toes in the sand and the water out there! Have a great weekend, my friend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
