Banner Haus News and Musings

Here are two of my pets, Hadji and Twinkie. Twinkie is a very old gal, and I think you can see her lovely eyes in her picture. I cut that hole in the fence so that she can look out. The dogs have another "window" at ground level, with chicken-wire across it, so that they can lay and spy on the neighborhood.

Hadji is in the picture below, perhaps wondering when the narcissus will bloom. Tomorrow, Hadji, most likely! He is my little mahout, riding about on my shoulders and just generally having me at his beck and call. His fur is white underneath, deepest brown on top. He cannot see properly from one eye, and weighs less than 5 pounds.

Like all of my animals, both were rescues. Hadji was in particularly bad shape, but he has an easy life of it now!

What beautiful fur babies you have, or maybe they have you? Most well loved pets seem to have us, don't they?

While not a gardener myself, I sure am longing for things to grow here in Michigan again. We've not had a bad winter considering how other areas have been hit, but I am tired of gray skies. Coming here is always a day brightener!

  • Sweet Sue

Thank you for sharing your angels, such beautiful beloveds:)

Hi Holly thank you for showing us your cute pets. I am not about Hadji but Sheeba would adore Twinkle. She also peeks out of the metal fence on our porch.Today 's graphic is so pretty I have saved it.
Tonight I made an Indian version of Morrocan Roast Chicken with Pumpkin and I tipped in some TX poultry seasoning in it for International flavor.

Oh yes that quote is glorious. Sometimes its more mud and cesspool actually. I like jumping in it

  • Donna

Oh, your furbabies are so cute! Thank you for showing us pics of them. And I am so jealous that your daffies are going to bloom so soon. The ones in are area are about a week behind schedule. Pbbttt....

  • Faith

Your fuzzy ones are cute....and photogenic, whenever I try to get spanky on the camera he turns his head just at the moment I snap the pic..it takes us several shots....flowers blooming...whats that you say? Nothing green here that I can see, winter wonderland is upon us..ah but under the snow...lays the garlic bulbs I planted last fall..I hope that they are getting good and fat under all the snow.....and someday I will see their green shoots coming up...

  • Julia

Hadji really looks like a mini Lucky and Twinkie is so lucky to have her porthole to the "outside."

I had a cat once get mad and rip down several blooming tulips because he lost the bird he caught. He dropped the bird at the door and it flew off and he ran right over to the flowers and bit through the stems tearing with one paw. It was weird and totally unexpected!

    Happy Daffodils!

Howdy and halloo m'dears. Isn't it odd how very different the climate is, all within the same hemisphere. These narcissus bulbs in the picture were planted in 1964 I was told. They can take the Texas heat and multiple each year.

It sure is nice to see you gals today!

Love the cut outs for your animal friends. Such wise and engaging faces they possess.
You're all lucky to have found each other.

  • Grayquill

Are you calling me a Jack Ass? I can see you laughing right now. I am so troubled by the sweet face in your profile calling me a Jack Ass, I almost forgot why I was going to comment.
Ohh,,, yeah I love the dog pic, but not so much the cat. The cat picture was great but .... the cat? No thank you, I have one to many already.:)
Oh...and nice to meet you too even though you called me a degrading name right from the git go.

  • Country Whispers

    Love the lil doggie window.

  • ClassyChassy

Ahhhh, I am not the only one who thought you were not merely calling us "donkey frens"! Love seeing your pets - and so glad you rescued them. So many animals needing homes, and too few will take in strays or "used" pets. Bless your heart, Holly! And, I'm snagging that graphic with the multi colored eggs! Looks just like the kind my hens lay!!!

  • Ridgewoman

What's the problem? I love being a friend of donkeys. I love to go to Oatman, AZ for that very reason; to visit my 'donkey friends'.
Like the idea of "peep holes' for you pets. If I were younger and 'abeler" (I know, BAD grammar) but anyway if I were able to assume the responsibility, I'd rescue some animals. Course, we have 2 dogs, a huge cat and a noisy, pesky Budgie. . and none of these animals are MINE. LOL
XX bev (glad we can say hi via comments. I wore some of my earrings from you to church this AM (snowing and blustery) and rec'd some nice compliments.

  • Gwen

I wanna pet your fur babies. Well, not Hadji, she and her kin make me sneeze & wheeze. Loving the hole in the fence, we had to do something similar because MG was always going nuts if he couldn't see what the haps were. (He barks like a Chihuahua when he goes nuts, very embarrassing for a big dog)

  • Mary | Deep South Dish

    Pretty graphic!

It is still so "dead" here, but I do hope that this current freeze is our (finally) last one. Maybe soon we'll be seeing some green peeking out.

    Love your babies!!

  • Angela

    Hey Holly!

Your doggie is a sweet looking pup! I say pup because that is what I call all old dogs and they seem to love it. I love seeing older dogs with the gray around their face. I love the peep hole you made for it to spy on your neighbors! lol I'll bet they get a kick out of seeing that peeping Tom watching them when they are in their yard! lol

    Hugs,
    Angela

  • Buttercup
