Well donkey frens, so much for having a second box of popcorn to give away. My son ate it. I came back from the store, and could smell the gooey goodness of the marshmallow popcorn from the driveway!
I'm so old I can remember dancing around a Maypole as a child. We would weave in and out and the ribbons would form a mesh. I am sure those days are gone, but mayhap they still do a Maypole dance in old Europe?
Quote
When April steps aside for May,
Like diamonds all the rain-drops glisten;
Fresh violets open every day:
To some new bird each hour we listen.

Merry, merry May! May we all dance with a touch of Joy in our hearts today.
ReplyDeleteHi Holly,
ReplyDeleteLovely cards -- I definitely saved the first one. Let's see if I make it into a digital card -- thanks for sharing!
There are May poles in practically every town in Bavaria -- and festivals, too.
Greetings from Munich,
Birgit
Happy May-Day Holly! Love the children dancing round the maypole:)
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day! Lovely graphics! Good to know the tradition still continues outside the US at least!
ReplyDeleteMayday, Mayday! Tra la tra lee...oh how happy we will be in the merry month of May!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope so anyway!
Oh well, too bad, so sad...for us, but jolly time for son, huh?
Love your pics today, perfect to bring in a new month~
hope your spirits get better soon dear.
hang in and hang on...
I have heard of a maypole, but have never participated in one..that I can recall. Maybe it was not a Northern State thing...Be interested to hear where people who played this were from...mayhap I was just a deprived child... hee hee
ReplyDeleteHi Holly, yes I remember the maypole. I love that lily of the valley picture. Mine are about ready to bloom. Have a great Saturday. Smiles, Sally
ReplyDeleteHe hath sorely disappointed many poor souls across the world.
ReplyDeleteProudly, I say May Day baskets are a forever-tradition at the Farkel house. Sadly, when it comes to May Day frolicking, too many people don't know what they're missing. Avon Ladies (hit-and-run doorbell ringers with treats) sort of do, but it's a stretch.
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day - Wear some violets in your hair!
P.S. Love the May Pole kiddiewinks! Thanks! Is it okay if I snap up the May poem to post with it on my sidebar, too? Let me know if that's not alright with you. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever go to Leavenworth? (In Washington State, dearie, not the prison!) They still dance around the May Pole today for May Fest!
ReplyDeleteHappy May Day!
Happy May Day! Wishing I would get a May Day basket.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of the demise of your marshmallow popcorn, but I'm sure he enjoyed it!
Before I got to the May Day musings, I laughed at the demise of the second box of popcorn. "The dog ate my homework" popped into my head. :) Kids (no matter how old they are) and pets are in our hearts and all of our stashes too! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLovely Maypole image there! And a wonderful poem that I'm going to jot down. But let's get to the important stuff. Did your son eat my box of popcorn too? ;0)
ReplyDeleteLovely May Pole image. Happy May Day to you too ;-) I'm from Bavaria, Germany and there are Maypoles everywhere. I love those old traditions that you don't see here in the new country. I'm getting more sentimental with age, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sunday, m'lady :-)
I am coming over for some pop corn. Only in the US can one find such things.
ReplyDeleteI am loving all the graphics.
